Back in November 2017, former SpaceX’s employee Sahil Gupta claimed in his blog that the real Satoshi Nakamoto – the creator of world’s first crypto-coin – is Elon Musk, whose name has become household thanks to his projects like Tesla and SpaceX. The society took this claim with the grain of salt, whereas the world-known entrepreneur dispelled the rumors.
Musk is known for promoting his idea of Mars' colonization by humans, environment-friendly power supplies and the fear of artificial intelligence.
This 41st Bloomberg-listed billionaire always speaks with authority, so people are still eager to know his point of view on various technological ideas, and the issue of cyber money has not been an exception. And the question which bothered lots of people’s minds is whether Musk owns any bitcoins.
Musk & Bitcoin
CEO of such companies as SpaceX and Tesla Inc. Elon Musk, whose net worth is $21.6, recently said that he does not possess any digital coin apart from its fraction of 0.25 BTC, which was once sent to him by his friend. Currently, as Musk claimed, he does not know where this fraction is located. As you can see, this tech genius does not seem to be very interested in cryptos.
“I literally own zero cryptocurrency, apart from .25 BTC that a friend sent me many years ago,” revealed Musk in his Twitter.
Not sure. I let @jack know, but it’s still going. I literally own zero cryptocurrency, apart from .25 BTC that a friend sent me many years ago.— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) 22 February 2018
As of writing, one bitcoin is being traded at about $10,000, so what Musk owns can be evaluated just at about $2,500.
By the way, last year November Musk also quashed the rumors spread by his former worker that he is the real inventor of BTC. In his Twitter, the entrepreneur merely said:
“Not true. A friend sent me part of a BTC a few years, but I don’t know where it is.”
